We Accept
Hatching Egg Orders
Our breeding program consists of small breeding groups. With a key focus on breed-improvement, quality, health and productivity, we feel that small breeding groups give us more control and traceability.
Hatching Egg Availability
Terms & Policies
Deposit & Payment
A deposit of 25% of the total amount is required to secure your hatching egg order. Deposit will be expected when you receive contact that I will begin collecting your hatching eggs.
Shipment/Order Cancellations
An estimated shipping date will be given at the time of paid deposit. Laying, fertility and hatch rates are extremely difficult to estimate. We are attentive and check for eggs multiple times daily (even more so in the cool/cold temperatures) to ensure the highest fertility rates possible. We only begin offering hatching eggs after successful fertility checks are carried out on our birds in advance. Our goal is always a 95-100% fertility rate before we open orders. We do ask for your patience when awaiting shipment of your hatching eggs - hens can stop laying at any time, for reasons we cannot always comprehend. We do our best to keep our flock happy and healthy, including consultation with flock veterinarians when needed. If we are delayed in shipping out an order due to stalled laying, you are free to bump your order to a later date. Orders cancelled before shipment dates will not receive a refund on their deposit.
Shipping
We offer both shipping (within Canada) and local pickup of hatching eggs. All shipping expenses are additional, and at the expense of the buyer. We ship via Canada Post (Xpress Post), Fedex or Purolator. Shipping quotes will be given in advance of the time of payment, will full payment expected before the eggs leave the farm.
Minimum Order
We have a minimum order of 12 eggs for orders requiring shipping. Eggs that are being picked up have a minimum order requirement of 6 eggs. Certain breeds, such as our Standard Blue Brahma and Bantam Blue Cochin have limited numbers of eggs available, therefore requiring a mixed dozen.
Hatch Rates & Expectations
Once eggs have left our property, we have no way of guaranteeing ANY hatch rate for numerous reasons. Handling in transit, care of the eggs once received and incubation practices can all affect the success of a hatch. We offer no guarantee on the quality of chicks that will hatch. We expect that our hatches will result in healthy chicks, but can not guarantee an exhibition-destined quality of bird. We use discernment when breeding, and will not include birds with undesirable traits in our breeding pens. Our objective is to breed Brahma while considering the APA’s Standard of Perfection as we make breeding pen selections.
On-Farm Biosecurity
With biosecurity and the health of flock at the utmost of importance to us at Fox Lane Brahmas, we only permit visitors who are picking up hatching eggs or live birds. Occasionally, we may make arrangements to meet off-site at a location of mutual agreement. In order to protect our birds from disease, we ask that you respect that we do not wish to allow visitors to view our flock.
